Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives...
You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country.
Therefore, rest in peace.
There is no difference between the Johnnies
And the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side,
Here in this country of ours.
You, the mothers, who sent their sons from far away countries...
Wipe away your tears.
Your sons are now lying in our bosom
And are in peace.
After having lost their lives on this land, they have
Become our sons as well
Are you an Aussie; a Kiwi; a Pacific Islander? Well if so, we need YOU!
WHY ANZAC?
In the fires of World War 1 emerged a phenomenal legend known for its bravery, audacity and camaraderie. From the far-flung corners of the earth came the joining of two little nations that would stand together on multiple battlefronts and earn massive respect amongst their allies and enemies alike.
That legend became known as the ANZAC: Australia New Zealand Army Corps.
The Anzac legend embedded itself on the conscience of history in 1915 when as part of the British allied forces, the Anzac’s fought the Turks on the Gallipoli Peninsula; the hope to secure one of history’s most sought after waterways. In this battle 8,000 Australians lost their lives, over 2,700 New Zealanders, but over 70,000 Turkish young men lost their lives defending their own land.
(In WW1 Pacific Islanders were conscripted into the New Zealand regiments, making the Islands part of the Anzac heritage).
Nineteen years later at the Anzac Day memorial service a remarkable incident occurred. The then hero of the Turkish army, turned leader of the Republic of Turkey, gave a history making speech that transformed the relationship between the Anzac and Turk as seen above.
Through this incredible speech, a once foe, became forever a friend. Today in modern day Turkey, because of that speech, there still exists a brotherhood-bond between the Anzac and Turk.
WHY YOU?
God is stirring up the Anzac spirit again. Though this time, not to fight with guns and bombs, but to serve the beautiful Turkish people with love and compassion. While our aim with the Anzac DTS is to train and send young Australians, New Zealanders and people from the Pacific, we will consider anyone who connects to the Anzac story and the Turkish people.
As we consider the unprecedented favour the Anzac’s have in Turkey we want to see full-time Christian workers raised up to serve Turkey. This DTS is designed to give you a foretaste of what could well be your future. If you’re serious about growing in God and want to partake in a history-making, dynamic mission opportunity, then this is for you!
We are delighted to be hosting the first ever Bible School for the Nations in the Pacific Region.
We have students from USA, Germany, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, and hopefully soon from Guam and The Solomon Islands.
Funny that the weather's turned cold since they arrived last week!
